Agro-Florentina LLC.
Agro-Florentina LLC, a beneficiary of the ARDP grant, a project financed through a loan from the World Bank (Loan No. 60170) and implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, is planning to increase the quality and quantity of non-timber forest products (PPJD), improving the cultivation and processing of mushrooms in the north of Kosovo. The company is located in Polac near Skenderaj, Kosovo, where their warehouses collect, store and process wild mushrooms, forest products and aromatic plants.
With the grant, this company will improve its production capacities and the quality of the products it offers on the market.
The company has a good infrastructure to carry out and develop current activities, it has a warehouse which includes two facilities of 600 square meters and offices. It has modern machinery for drying and processing wild mushrooms and aromatic plants.
With the said grant, Agro-Florentina will provide a 40m2 drying oven, a 96m2 cold room, fruit picking machinery and HACCP and Organic certification.
In turn, they will provide drip irrigation systems to contracted farmers who will also receive 20 multi-cultivators and packaging baskets for non-timber produce. Also, the company is committed to providing training to farmers so that they are updated with the latest trends in this type of business.
Agro-Florentina has 8 regular employees, while during the season it directly employs up to 40 employees, where 90% of them are women who are also the main financial providers of the family, who are involved in the product processing section. On the other hand, the company employs about 400 farmers from 52 villages in the municipality of Skenderaj and has organized about 20 centers for the collection of wild mushrooms and aromatic plants.
